Appointed as Member – Maharashtra State Commission for Women

The Maharashtra State Commission for Women is a Statutory Authority formulated to investigate and examine all matters relating to the safeguards provided to women by the Constitution and other laws by an Act enacted by the Legislature of Maharashtra in 1993.

The Commission is empowered to initiate sou – moto cognizance of matters of deprivation of women’s rights, non-implementation of laws and policies promulgated for women, render guidance and advice to needy women seeking justice, and call for research, studies, and investigations on issues related to Women in the state.

The Commission consists of 1 Chairperson, 6 Members, 1 Member Secretary (All Indian Services), and the Director General of Police of the State (ex-officio).

Utkarsha Rupwate was appointed a Member of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women on the 26th of January 2022.
